Lifted Research Group, also known as LRG, is one of StyleEngine.com’s most favored brands, as many others feel the same way. Yesterday, we were informed of the loss of co-founder and creative director of LRG, Jonas Bevacqua. The young and successful streetwear designer was found dead in his Laguna Beach home on Monday and cause of death is currently unknown. He was 34 years old.
Jonas Gregory Bevacqua was born in 1978. After dropping out of college and having to move back in with his parents, he founded Lifted Research Group with close friend and business partner Robert Wright in 1999. By 2000, the company made it’s first million, forming a skate team, promoting underground artists, all while producing and distributing stylish streetwear and accesories worldwide. In 2007, LRG was ranked #5 in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Hot 500 list of fastest-growing companies.
Lifted Research Group’s brand can be found on skateboarders, surfers, and rappers and has been commonly worn by celebrities such as Kanye West, Bun B, B.o.B., Wale, Michael Phelps, John Legend, and many more. Family, friends, and fans alike mourn the loss of such an inspirational visionary.
An ordered autopsy is scheduled for later today.
