Michael Jordan torches Kobe Bryant

In your dreams is what MJ basically reiterated to Kobe Bryant’s remarks of this current Team USA, being able to beat the Dream Team of 1992.

Jordan told The Associated Press Thursday that he laughed: “I absolutely laughed” when hearing Bryant’s comments that the 2012 US team can compete and win against Jordan and the Dream Team.

Jordan said there’s “no comparison” which team is better. Also adding: “For him to compare those two teams is not one of the smarter things he ever could have done.”

Bryant said this year’s team has a “bunch of racehorses, players who are incredibly athletic, while the Dream Team consisted mainly of players that were at the tail end of their careers.”

MJ responded, “I heard Kobe say we were not athletic,” “But we were smart. He said we were too old, but I was 29 and in the prime of my career. Pip (Scottie Pippen) was 26 or 27, (Charles) Barkley was 29, Patrick (Ewing) was 29 and Chris Mullin was 29. Almost everybody was still in their 20s.”.

Further voicing his opinion, MJ stated: “Most of us were in the prime of our careers, at a point where athleticism doesn’t really matter,” “You have to know how to play the game.”

When asked why he thought Kobe made those comments, Michael simply replied, “I imagine he’s trying to say it to legitimize his own Dream Team, but to me it’s not even a question what team is better.”

Although, MJ says that anyone is entitled to their opinion, even though it’s wrong: “For him to make that comparison, it’s one of those things where it creates conversation,” Jordan said. “I guess we’ll never know. I’d like to think that we had 11 Hall of Famers on that team, and whenever they get 11 Hall of Famers, you call and ask me who had the better Dream Team. Remember now, they learned from us. We didn’t learn from them.”

none of these young boys including lebron or kobe or durant which are the only soon to be hall a famers on the 2012 team  will ever do the following in nba history 6× NBA Champion (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998) 6× NBA Finals MVP (1991–1993, 1996–1998) 5× NBA Most Valuable Player (1988, 1991–1992, 1996, 1998) 14× NBA All-Star (1985–1993, 1996–1998, 2002–2003) 10× NBA scoring champion (1987–1993, 1996–1998) 3× NBA steals champion (1988, 1990, 1993) NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1988) 10× All-NBA First Team (1987–1993, 1996–1998) All-NBA Second Team (1985) 9× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1988–1993, 1996–1998) NBA Rookie of the Year (1985) NBA All-Rookie First Team (1985) 3× NBA All-Star Game MVP (1988, 1996, 1998) 2× NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion (1987–1988) NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team #23 Retired by Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat NCAA Champion (1982) 2× Consensus NCAA All-American First Team (1983–1984) ACC Player of the Year (1984) Oscar Robertson Trophy (1984) Naismith College Player of the Year (1984) John R. Ontop of which basketball has gotten completely ridic these days everything is "oh he touched me let me fall flat on my face to try to get a penalty shot" go look back on MJ. An pip they rarely ever purposly tryed to get fouled. The Dream Team Is The Dream Team

pip would have locked down lebron....jordan locked down kobe and ewing and robinson would have a field day....i understand why kobe said it...but i agree with the goat

I honestly don't think so. Don't get me wrong, this year's team has AMAZING talent and athleticism, but the Dream team's defense was awesome and no1 on this years team could bang down low with the Dream Team's big men. The Dream team's players actually played defense and were a lot more physical. Durant and Lebron would create difficult matchups because of their size and abilities to play different positions, but i think pippen and maybe a couple of other players could contain them. And plus the Dream Team had MJ. No1 on this year's team would be able to stop Jordan enuff said..

AND IF DWIGHT HOWARD WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIS S**** TOGETHER AND PLAYED THIS YEAR THEIR BIG MEN WOULD HAVE BEEN UNSTOPABLE

Kobe, Lebron, Durant, and Melo are all great basketball players.  But if you compare all aspects of the teams (front court, back court, bench), nevermind the dream team, I still give a slight edge to the 96 team over the 2012 team.

Ive seen MJ play since 1985 and sorry to say the league since 2000 is so soft. The 1980's and 1990's were so much better in every aspect. Fans of today think this person is just as good as another when in fact I yawn at it. Ive seen performances better then what i've seen since 2000.

theRealest 9 pts

All that comment saying today team would have won Stfu. yall n even picked up a basketball a day in yall lives. first of all today athletes are protected by the league with these refs calling Flagrant 1s ad 2s. U telling me a Kevin Love would of matched with Karl Malone. Tyson Chandler would of Matched up with David Robinson smh. Watch the Documentary again folks other teams wanted pictures with these guys because they was s great (Respect) after 2004 these overseas team wanna bust these softee as off the court and get a NBA contract. FOH yall STFU please

hithere123 6 pts

the team today would win, they may have been smarter back then but today's league has so much more talent. if you put lebron james back when MJ entered the league he would be today's MJ. The competition back then was not the same at all

diew 7 pts

hithere123 lets not forget that back in the days they pretty much played without expecting the ref to call any fouls. No ways lebron can compete with MJ, MJs got too many moves, and if MJ could dominate the league without getting all these fouls Lebron is getting, MJ can for sure cream Lebron. And if MJ can cream Lebron, there is no way Lebron can ever be on MJ's level, no way he would be today's MJ if he were to play in the league back then

jack_rowell 7 pts

hithere123 competition not the same??? barkley malone stockton jordan pippen on and on..ALL hall of famers...that was the GOLDEN era of basketball...not the same level of talent...worst ...statement...ever

swiiiish 5 pts

hithere123 YOU ARE A FREAKIN MORON!!! did you even watch bball in the 90's? dumbest statement i have ever seen in my life. the competition back then was actually harder u idiot!! malone, barkley, ewing, robinson, bird, magic, iverson, hakeem, clyde, thomas, reggie miller, larry johnson, alonzo thats just off the top..the league wasnt full of a bunch of panzys back then.
